Free Wireless Internet For Qualified Students |

Milestone Communications recently completed a “pilot” project that uses the existing wireless light pole tower to broadcast broadband internet to the homes of under privledged children within a 2 mile radius of the school. Hundreds of eligible students can be connected to the tower network bridging the digital divide for students. The site also acts as a mobile “hot-spot” giving free WiFi to fans in the school stadium seats.
Using a Motorola “canopy” system with 6 antennae’s mounted at the top of the tower, a 360 degree internet signal is broadcast from the tower to receiving antennas installed at the designated homes. The operating costs to manage the internet connection, home installation and customer support. Equipment on the tower is $25,000 installed. |
